About

Thank you for visiting my blog! My name’s Jarrod McKenna and i’m a reproductive biologist living in Melbourne, Australia. My research investigates early pregnancy and assisted reproductive techniques such as IVF to better improve pregnancy outcomes.

However, i’m also a zookeeper and am passionate about animal conservation and biodiversity. I love to talk about science, animals and reproduction; ideally all at once! Every month or so, I find a new piece (or pieces) of scientific research and summarise that research in an easily understandable and accessible way. The research I write about can cover anything from how enrichment in zoos improves animal welfare, to embryo cryopreservation of white rhinos to the diversity of animal genitalia. Hopefully something will strike your eye, make you laugh or make you question/want to learn more!
